Also known as Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi, this day coincides with the fourth day of the waning lunar phase (Krishna Paksha) after the full moon (Purnima). And when it falls on Tuesday in the month of Chaitra it is even more auspicious.

Today, on the ocassion of Angarki Chaturthi devotees thronged the Siddhivinayak and Dagdusheth temples in Mumbai and Pune respectively.

Devotees observe fast on this day and break it only after sighting the moon. Moreover, on this day, they wear red-coloured clothes, chant mantras and offer their prayers to the Lord to seek his blessings.
There are 13 Chaturthi this Gregorian calendar. On April 3, devotees will celebrate the first Angaraki Chaturthi of this year. The previous Chaturthis (Sankashti) were observed on January 5, February 3 and March 5 this year.
