Mumbai: Its a very special day for Lord Ganesha devotees. Dedicated to one of Lord Ganesha's ardent devotees named - Angarik - this day is of great significance. Also known as Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi, this day coincides with the fourth day of the waning lunar phase (Krishna Paksha) after the full moon (Purnima). And when it falls on Tuesday in the month of Chaitra it is even more auspicious.

Today, on the ocassion of Angarki Chaturthi devotees thronged the Siddhivinayak and Dagdusheth temples in Mumbai and Pune respectively.

Special arrangements have been made for women, pregnant women, senior citizens at these temples today. This has been done to manage a large turnaround.

Devotees observe fast on this day and break it only after sighting the moon. Moreover, on this day, they wear red-coloured clothes, chant mantras and offer their prayers to the Lord to seek his blessings.

There are 13 Chaturthi this Gregorian calendar. On April 3, devotees will celebrate the first Angaraki Chaturthi of this year. The previous Chaturthis (Sankashti) were observed on January 5, February 3 and March 5 this year. 

According to drikpanchang.com, the upcoming Shankashtis will fall on May 3 (Thursday), June 2 ( Saturday), July 1 (Sunday), July 31 (Tuesday), August 30 ( Thursday), September 28 (Friday), October 27 ( Saturday), November 26 ( Monday), December 25 (Tuesday).
