In the premium SUV space, the Volkswagen Tiguan has secured its place as an elegant car that can go fast and won't age fast. Things do get tasty about this capable SUV, as it isn't just capable on fast roads, but is indeed a package to put some of its rivals to shame with its underrated offroading capabilities.
Even we were not aware of the true potential of the Tiguan in a habitat that lacked any amount of tarmac, whatsoever. Well, comes in the Volkswagen Tiguan's offroad mode and ensures no obstacle is too much for the car.
As for numbers, the Volkswagen Tiguan has a ground clearance of 200 mm, but not so generous approach or departure angle. Keeping things in check on this offroad course was the Tiguan's capable 4Motion AWD system.
The power is channelled to all wheels of the car here, through a 7-speed DSG, from a 2.0L TSI motor. It peaks out at 190 PS and 320 Nm.
The Tiguan does get a drive mode selector switch, which lets the driver toggle between road and offroad modes. The latter came in handy during the offroad drive.
Well, it should be taken into consideration that the Volkswagen Tiguan we took offroading was on its road tyres, shod of neat-looking 18-inch rims.
