After a fresh spell of rainfall lashed parts of Delhi-NCR, the capital city and surrounding areas including Gurugram experienced a slow weekend marred by waterlogging leading to traffic jams. Key routes, such as the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway, along with several subways, were heavily affected, turning travel into a major ordeal for commuters.

Areas including Pandit Pant Marg, Ghaziabad, and Noida Sector 9 were among those affected by the rainfall on Sunday.

Visuals from Najafgarh in West Delhi reveal severe waterlogging on roads, exacerbating difficulties for commuters. Footage also shows residents maneuvering through flooded streets in Noida Sector 62 following the heavy rain.

The heavy rainfall led to the shutdown of multiple underpasses and subways in Gurugram including those at DLF phases 1 and 3, Sector 4, 5, Palam Vihar, and Suncity Township, as authorities focused on ensuring commuter safety.

Meanwhile, Haryana is expected to experience heavy rain till August 14 after parts of Ambala city faced severe downpour accompanied by moderate thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of state.

"Fairly widespread to widespread light-moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh during 10th -16th; Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, West Uttar Pradesh on 10th, 11th and during 14th - 16th; Punjab on 10th and 11th; Haryana-Chandigarh during 10th, 11th and 14th August," IMD said in a press release.
