Pic Courtesy: YouTube New Delhi: At a time when the persistent moisture deficit conditions, increase in hot days and day-night temperature is turning India into a dry nation and causing Latur-like water crisis, a latest research shows that the salty sea water can easily be made drinkable.
As per the clipping, designer Gabriele Diamanti has invented a very simple creation called 'Eliodomestico' which can really prove to be a boon for India where mainly children and women are forced to walk miles in the scourging sun in search of water.
Eliodomestico - is a simple desalination that functions almost like an "upside down coffee percolator".
The most interesting part of the fantastic creation is that – it is a solar-powered oven which can make fresh water!
How does Eliodomestico work?
Step 1: All you have to do is pour in some saltwater and leave in the sun for the day. The device contains two pots, one placed on top of the other. The saltwater is to be poured into the black boiler on top.
Step 2: Through the day, the container heats up in the sun and turns the seawater into steam.
Step 3: The pressure built in the top boiler forces the steam through a tube into the pot at the bottom.
Step 4: The metal lid of this bottom container acts as a condenser, turning the steam back to water. This water, collected in a basin in the lower pot, is now drinkable.
