Lok Sabha Elections 2024 | Phase 5 Records Over 57% Voter Turnout, West Bengal Leads With 73%

Phase 5 of the Lok Sabha Election is witnessing prominent leaders and high-profile seats. The voting for all the seats starts at 7 AM.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 5: Voting for phase 5 of the Lok Sabha Elections, consisting of 49 parliamentary constituencies across 8 states and Union Territories concluded on Monday. Fate of 649 candidates in fray for 49 parliamentary constituencies was decided by the eligible voters in the 5th phase of the 2024 genral elections. Out of these 49 Lok Sabha seats, 14 were from Uttar Pradesh, 13 from Maharashtra, 7 from West Bengal, 5 from Bihar, 3 from Jharkhand, 5 from Odisha, and one each from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The fifth phase witnessed prominent leaders of the BJP and Congress eyeing electoral success in various constituencies. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was contesting from Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli, which is one of the high-profile seats in the ongoing general election. The BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Piyush Goyal, Ujjwal Nikam, and Karan Bhushan Singh contested phase 5 of the Lok Sabah Election. While LJP (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan, JKNC chief Omar Abdullah, and RJD leader Rohini Acharya are also looking for political victory.

LS Polls 2024 Live: Mumbai Fails To Touch 50% Voter Turnout Mark In Phase 5

Mumbai failed to cross 50 per cent voter turnout till 7 pm. Mumbai North recorded a turnout of 46.91 per cent; Mumbai North Central saw a turnout of 47.46 per cent, Mumbai North East saw a turnout of 48.67 per cent per cent, Mumbai North West recorded a turnout of 49.79 per cent. Mumbai South had the lowest turnout in the city with 44.63 per cent recorded till 7 pm. Mumbai South Central saw a turnout of 48.26 per cent.

2024 LS Polls Live Updates: West Bengal Records Highest Voter Turnout, Maharashtra At The Botton Of List

According to the poll body, in the 5th phase of Lok Sabha Polls 2024 West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout (73 per cent), followed by Ladakh (67.15 per cent), Jharkhand (63.00 per cent), Odisha (60.72 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (57.79 per cent), Jammu and Kashmir (54.67 per cent), Bihar (52.60 per cent) and Maharashtra (49.01 per cent).
