Remarkable athlete, PM Modi congratulates Nishad Kumar for winning silver at Tokyo Paralympics

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (August 29) congratulated Bhavina Patel and Nishad Kumar for winning a silver medal in Table Tennis at the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. 

PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "The remarkable Bhavina Patel has scripted history! She brings home a historic Silver medal. Congratulations to her for it. Her life journey is motivating and will also draw more youngsters towards sports. #Paralympics."

Nishad Kumar jumped 2.06m in the finals of the men's high jump T45-T47 class at the ongoing Paralympics in Tokyo to help India secure its second medal at the event.

The effort by the Indian saw him clinch a silver medal at the showpiece event. His 2.06m mark also saw him create a new Asian record in men's high jump T45-T47 category. 

PM Modi congratulated Nishad Kumar for his victory on Twitter, "More joyful news comes from Tokyo! Absolutely delighted that Nishad Kumar wins the Silver medal in Men’s High Jump T47. He is a remarkable athlete with outstanding skills and tenacity. Congratulations to him."
