 "ICSE defers class 10, 12 board exams 2021 amid spike in COVID-19 cases, new dates to be announced in first week of June")
ANI photo NEW DELHI: The Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations, CISCE, on Friday (April 16) decided to defer the ICSE Classes 10 and 12 examinations amid a nation-wide surge in cases of coronavirus COVID-19. The board will take a final decision on new dates of examination for class 10 and 12th by the first week of June 2021.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations' chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon said "In light of the nationwide surge in coronavirus cases, the class 10 and 12 exams which were to be held from May 4 have been deferred." "We will closely monitor the situation and review it in the first week of June to take a final decision on conduct of examination. While class 12 exams will be conducted at a later stage, class 10 students will get an option to either appear in offline exams later or get evaluated on basis of fair and unbiased criteria to be developed by board," PTI quoted Arathoon as saying.
The CISCE Board was scheduled to hold ICSE or Class 10 exam from May 4 to June 7 and ISC or Class 12 exam from April 8 to June 18, 2021. This year, nearly 3 lakh students registered to appear for CISCE exams including both ICSE and ISC exams. Meanwhile, students and parents are advised to keep a check on the official website of the board - for further updates.
Last year, when the board exams were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students were evaluated on the basis of internal assessment. The candidates were evaluated based on the best three subjects percentage marks for which board exams were held, and also on their internal assessment including marks obtained in practical exams, project work marks and marks obtained in mid-term exams. Students will be required to score a minimum 35 per cent marks to clear the ICSE exam, while 40 per cent marks in each subject as well as aggregate for to pass ISC exam.
