File Image Sachin Tendulkar-led India Legends on Tuesday (March 10, 2020) defeated Tillakaratne Dilshan-led Sri Lanka Legends by 5 wickets at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.
Irfan Pathan, the star performer of the match took away the game from SL Legends and smashed 57 runs not out off 31 to take India Legends home.
Earlier, the SL Legends were invited to bat first who managed 138-8 in their 20 overs.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chamara Kapugedera scored the top scores of 23 each for the team.
For India Legends, Munaf Patel took 4 wickets for 19 in his four-over quota. Manpreet Gony, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Bangar took one wicket each.0
In reply, India Legends got off to a poor start as they lost Sachin-Sehwag duo within three overs. Sachin departed in the first over without scoring whereas, Sehwag, who was dropped on the very first ball of the chase, got run out in the third over. Sehwag was dismissed for four.
Yuvraj Singh also got caught in the fifth over.
Then, Mohammad Kaif and India's former batting coach Sanjay Bangar helped India past 10 overs without giving away any wicket.
India Legends were struggling at 81-5 in 14.4 overs and were nearing the defeat when Irfan Pathan changed his gear. Irfan hit 6 fours and 3 sixes to remain unbeaten at 57 off 31 balls. He was supported by Manpreet Gony at the end who hit 11* off 8 balls.
The tournament, which is being conducted in order to raise awareness regarding road safety, has a total of five teams facing each other once in the round-robin format.
The top two sides after the completion of all matches will square off in the final at the picturesque Brabourne Stadium in the Cricket Club of India (CCI) ground on March 22.
