Now, Sir Paul McCartney joins artists abandoning streaming

Former Beatles legend sir Paul McCartney has become the latest artist to resist making full albums available via streaming services.

London: Former Beatles legend sir Paul McCartney has become the latest artist to resist making full albums available via streaming services.
Sir Paul has pulled a number of his solo albums off all streaming services ahead of a performance of his latest album in Hollywood, which will be live-streamed for free via Apple iTunes. He has joined a number of other high profile artists, who have abandoned streaming, such as Adele and The Black Keys, The Telegraph reports. Until recently Coldplay had also kept its latest album off Spotify, out fear of cannibalising album sales via download stores such as iTunes. Digital Music News reported that Sir Paul’s albums are being pulled off streaming services in the US, but it is not yet clear how the take-down will affect the UK. A Spotify spokesman said that Sir Paul``s music had not been available on the streaming service since 2010. Sir Paul’s decision comes just ahead of his first free live-streamed gig happening today, in conjunction with Apple. The live set is to promote his new covers album ‘Kiss on the Bottom’ which features duets with artists like Eric Clapton. ANI
